Welcome to Rivaz !

This magnificent village in the heart of the vineyards on the shores of Lake Geneva has been the home of the Chappuis family since 1335. Now in its 19th generation, our family can reasonably claim to have its roots deep in this land and the vines.

Our estate is part of the Lavaux Vineyard Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed as an outstanding example of a centuries-long interaction between people and their environment. We are committed to conserving and developing this heritage in order to pass it on to future generations.

We currently work five hectares on our production sites in St-Saphorin, Dézaley and Chardonne. The Chasselas, king of Lavaux, of course represents a large proportion of our production but we have also planted a number of other types of vine over the years. Viognier, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Gamaret, Merlot, Diolinoir and Syrah also grow very happily on our slopes.

Our vineyard house lies in the centre of the village, near the church tower. Here we turn the grapes into wine in the shelter of the old oak barrels, beneath the magnificent stained glass window by the artist Jean Prahin entitled "Le Temps de Vie". There are many who retain happy memories of the passionate discussions witnessed by this magical place. Wine is a passion conducive to sharing, to exchange and friendship.

With our different wines we seek to respect the uniqueness and purity of our vines, to bring out the minerality of our Chasselas and to make the best use of our soils while respecting their special characteristics and their nutrient balance.
